This is the excellent sounding 180g double LP release of Sky Blue Sky, half speed mastered by Stan Ricker at RTI.

I agonized forever about whether or not to use DeNoise on this album. The trouble is is that even the CD contains a fair amount of "hiss" -- I think it was recorded this way intentionally to give the music a particular sound. When you add even a normal level of vinyl noise on top of it, it becomes very difficult to remove one and not the other without affecting the music. I decided to err on the side of doing the thing which affected the original sound the least. As a result, some of the quieter passages in the music are going to sound a little hissy when doing headphone listening. When listened to on speakers, the effect is nominal.

I worked a long while on this one. It speaks to the quality of the music that I never got sick of the songs while working on them. The CD, by contrast, is not terrible sounding, but there's a definite improvement -- there is nothing quite like the sound of an album released on two 180 gram LPs, in my opinion. The half speed mastering is just icing on the cake, here.

There is no 24-96 version of this, as it was created at a time when I was not releasing in 24-96. This has since changed, and all subsequent uploads will be 24-96.
