A prostitute turned saint, Magdalene is now so engulfed in haunting mythos and iconography that the prospect of separating historical truth from legend risks impossibility. Undaunted, this program utilizes a scintillating combination of artwork, archival documents, dramatic reenactments and discussions with Biblical scholars to investigate Mary’s status within the context of history, her relationship to Christ and her importance for the early Church.
